Meet your tour leader at the Visit Pertouli base
Meet your guide at the Pertouli Ski Center, in the Livadia meadows, for a short introduction and safety briefing before setting off.
Begin the ascent through the fir-covered slopes of Koziakas. The trail steadily gains altitude as the open meadows give way to dense mountain forest.
Reach the Koziakas Mountain Refuge at around 1,738 metres. Take a short break, refill your energy and enjoy the change in scenery before continuing towards the summit.
Continue above the refuge towards Astrapi / Chatzipetros Peak. The terrain becomes more exposed as you approach the highest point of the route at 1,901 metres.
Arrive at the summit and enjoy panoramic views across Koziakas and the surrounding mountain ranges. Weather permitting, take time for photos and a short rest before beginning the descent.
Follow the mountain route back through the refuge and forest, gradually returning to the Pertouli Meadows and the starting point at the Ski Center. Finish the hike back at the parking area after approximately 6 hours on the mountain.
Set out from the Pertouli Ski Center and climb to Astrapi, the 1,901-metre summit of Koziakas, on a full-day hiking experience through one of the most impressive mountain landscapes around Pertouli.
The route begins among the open Pertouli Meadows, at approximately 1,170 metres, before entering the dense fir forest covering the slopes of Koziakas. As the trail gains altitude, the landscape gradually opens and views begin to appear across the surrounding mountains.
A major stop along the route is the Koziakas Mountain Refuge, located at approximately 1,750 metres. From here, the final section climbs towards Astrapi, also known as Chatzipetros Peak, the highest point of the hike at 1,901 metres.
From the summit, the mountain opens in every direction. On clear days, views extend towards Olympus, Kissavos, Lake Plastira, Agrafa and Tzoumerka, placing you high above the forests and valleys of the southern Pindus.
After time at the summit, begin the descent back through the refuge and forest towards the Pertouli Ski Center.

This is a mountain hike with significant elevation gain and requires a good level of physical fitness.

Winter hiking on this route is not offered as part of the standard experience due to snow and mountain conditions.
What to Bring
Participants should wear proper hiking shoes or boots and comfortable clothing suitable for mountain conditions.
We also recommend bringing:
The hike is rated moderate to challenging. It involves approximately 16 km of walking, 800–900 metres of elevation gain and several hours of sustained uphill and downhill hiking. A good level of physical fitness is required.
Previous mountain hiking experience is helpful but not essential. You should, however, be comfortable walking for around six hours on uneven mountain terrain and managing a significant ascent and descent.
Astrapi, also known as Chatzipetros Peak, reaches an altitude of 1,901 metres on Koziakas Mountain.
The hike starts and finishes at the Pertouli Ski Center, near the Pertouli Meadows.
Proper hiking shoes or boots are strongly recommended. Wear comfortable outdoor clothing in layers and bring a waterproof jacket, as mountain weather can change quickly.
Bring enough water, snacks or light food, a small backpack, sun protection, sunglasses and an additional warm layer.
The minimum age is 12 years old. Younger participants should already be comfortable with long mountain hikes and have the fitness required for the distance and elevation gain.
Reaching the summit depends on weather, trail conditions and the pace and safety of the group. The guide may modify the route or turn back before the summit if conditions make continuing unsafe.
The standard hiking season is approximately April to November, depending on snow and mountain conditions. The route is not offered as a normal winter hike because heavy snow and ice can significantly change its difficulty.

The hike had everything we were hoping for: dense forest, mountain trails, the refuge and incredible views from the summit. It was challenging enough to feel like a real achievement without being technical. Definitely come prepared for a full day outdoors.
We had already explored Pertouli and the meadows, but seeing the area from Astrapi gave us a completely different perspective. The climb was tiring in places, but the scenery kept changing and the summit was spectacular. A fantastic experience for anyone who enjoys hiking.
